We (Corktrans) have been made known that the Dep. of Social Protection has set up an advisory group, so that the Minister for Social Protection through this group "Gender Recognition Advisory Group" can advise the Minsiter on legislation required to recognise the accquired gender of transsexual persons in Ireland. The group would like to draw attention to the public to a consultation document on the departments website, www.welfare.ie which provides further information on this topic. To help progress its work, the group herby invites comments and propsals on relevant issues from intrested parties.

Proposals and comments should be sumbitted by e-mail to the secretary of the group at: Grag@welfare.ie - not later than Friday September 17th 2010

We would encourage you all to make a submission to the advisory group, as trans individuals, or as supporters and allies. It is an opportunity to provide input into, and shape, the proposed legislation to ensure it is inclusive and reflective of the lived experiences of trans people in Ireland.

Please do give your thoughts and opinions on the proposals - the greater input from a diversity of experiences that the advisory group receives on this issue, the better.

Friday is Big Gay Friday, Saturday is Pop Eletrik with special guest drag performers and Sunday is Bingo with Dusty Flaps and the weekly Dragiators Challenge winners. Saturday nights are still kickin' with Eden in Salthill's Warwick Hotel.

One of Galway City’s most unusual bars, De Burgos is a stunningly beautiful venue. Located in former underground wine cellars, it bears the name of an Anglo Norman family who were involved in the founding of the City. Hidden away on Augustine Street in the middle of Galway city, De Burgos is an underground venue in every sense of the word. It has a unique set of acoustics due to its thick stone walls and curved ceilings. This place is something of an undiscovered gem in our opinion. They also have a convenient smoking area at the rear of the pub. A visit to De Burgo’s is essential.
